For US Senate I am voting for Warren Mosler

This was a hard decision to make. Blumenthal is definitely not fit for the Senate. McMahon says some good things but I am not sure of why. What is her real ideology? I went back and forth between Mosler and Mertens. Mosler is decent on economic issues and will get my vote although I hope that Mertens gets one percent to run a CFL candidate against Lieberman. If you want the best candidate it is John Traceski who is a write-in. This is a race that I wish there was ranked voting in. I would vote 1. Traceski, 2. Mosler, 3. Hill, 4. Mertens.

Despite the lies of the Malloy campaign Tom is the best candidate for the job. I did seriously consider Tom Marsh also but in the end the decision came down to Marsh seems to be eager to raise taxes a Foley would not raise taxes is possible.
Malloy claims that he will eliminate some state department but will not eliminate jobs. This is typical talking out of both sides of ones mouth. Although it is possible to do it would serve not purpose. Also, Malloy claims he will create green jobs. In Spain where the government has created green jobs studies show that for each green job created it cost about two other jobs.

Please vote for Sam on the Independent Party line. Sam has a solid record on economic issues in the State Senate all though not perfect. Sam is a great candidate and therefore a look the write-ins is not warranted. Sam was the only State Senator to vote against the state budget. He rightly called it unsustainable.

Daria Novak would have been a great choice put unfortunately she lost in the primary. Dan Reale is a write-in candidate. He has an easy name to remember and to spell, so write-in Dan Reale for Congress in the 2nd district.

Dan Malloy for Governor in the Democrat Primary

This is an endorsement that definitely will not carry over into the general election. This endorsement is made because the worst possible candidate for governor is Ned Lamont.
Lamont has sucked up to the unions since deciding to run for Senate in 2006. However, he fought to keep the communication workers out of his company. He also supports killing the disabled. Lamont touts his business experience and job creation but has decreased his work force even in good times. He would not have been a success in business had he not inherited hundred of millions of dollar by being a member of one of wealthiest families in the country.
Malloy will not be a good governor but Ned Lamont may be the death knell for the state of Connecticut. Lamont will be openly hostile to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Martha Dean is Pro-life yet more libertarian than most Republican candidates, a good combination. The other choice in this primary is Ross Garber who I like to refer to as Mr. Bysiewicz as he is married to Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz's sister. He would not get into this race until she was disqualified, there I question his commitment. Martha Dean on the other hand is better on the issues and more committed.

Peter Schiff for US Senate in the Republican primary

Peter Schiff is rock solid on the economy. He was an economic adviser on Ron Paul's presidential campaign. He is somewhat libertarian on most issues. He is by far the best major party candidate in this race on either side.
Rob Simmons is a liar. At a town hall type meeting he claimed that he never voted for a bill that he did not read and later to another question said that he never knowingly voted for federal funding of any abortions. Both of these statement cannot be true.
Linda McMahon was asked to run for this office by Rham Emmanuel to ensure that the Democrat wins. She touts her experience with the WWE. If that is here best quality then we need to ask and get answers about things such as the exploitation of women and the rampant use of steroids in here business. She says "its time for something different." Sound a lot like "change," and we know where that has gotten us. So I would like to say like the add she once ran Linda McMahon "get the F out."

Where are the Evangelicals?

I just got back for the Hartford March for Life. As we were marching around the front of the Capitol Building and I heard the Rosary repeated along with several other Catholic prayers, I could not help but think "Where are the Evangelicals? Where are the Protestants? Am I the only one here who is not Catholic?"
I will admit that this event was put together by Catholic groups but it was open to all. This event happens every year on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. It is not if nobody knew. I have not been to this event every year but I have been several times. I do not recall every seeing anyone who as far as I could tell was not Catholic, although it is very possible that there were and I was not aware of it. The question is why were there not large groups of non-Catholics? I do not know. Do not misunderstand I am thankful for the Catholics that are involved in the Pro-Life movement, but why are they the only ones that seem to care about this issue enough to go to something like this.

TSA lies exposed: Full-body scanner machines do save and transmit images, secret documents reveal

(NaturalNews) The TSA has been lying to the American people about full-body scanners. The agency has insisted that these "digital strip search" machines are incapable of saving, storing or transmitting the images they take. This, we are told, makes it okay for people to be digitally strip-searched.

But secret documents uncovered by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (www.EPIC.org) have revealed that these machines do indeed posses precisely such capabilities. According to TSA specification requirement documents that have been uncovered by the EPIC, all full-body scanners purchased by the TSA must have the ability to both save and transmit the scanned images of air passengers.

The documents were obtained by EPIC through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. They have also been shared with CNN, which has viewed the documents and published a story about what they reveal.

These documents contradict the claims of the TSA, which include the statement that "the system has no way to save, transmit or print the image."

TSA misleads the public
The TSA's own "imaging technology" page (http://www.tsa.gov/approach/tech/im...) claims, "This state-of-the-art technology cannot store, print, transmit or save the image. In fact, all machines are delivered to airports with these functions disabled."

That in itself is an interesting statement because by stating those functions are "disabled," it also admits that the machines inherently have these functions. And just because the machines are delivered with the functions disabled doesn't mean those functions can't be re-enabled at the flick of a switch.

In other words, these machines are designed and constructed with the ability to save, store and transmit the images.

"I don't think the TSA has been forthcoming with the American public about the true capability of these devices," said the Executive Director of EPIC, Marc Rotenberg in a CNN interview. "They've done a bunch of very slick promotions where they show people -- including journalists -- going through the devices. And then they reassure people, based on the images that have been produced, that there's not any privacy concerns. But if you look at the actual technical specifications and you read the vendor contracts, you come to understand that these machines are capable of doing far more than the TSA has let on." In other words, the TSA is telling the public and the press one thing, but the machines they're buying are capable of something far more insidious, these documents reveal. Is the TSA intentionally lying to the public in order to mislead people over the real capabilities of these machines?

If these full-body scanners can save, store and transmit images, then it's only a matter of time before some rogue TSA employee finds a way to copy off the images or display them on the screen so that they can take snapshots with their own portable cameras.

The TSA says it's protecting your privacy. But its own scanner specification documents tell a different story: The TSA won't even buy these machines unless they can save, store and transmit revealing images of air passengers.

(Chuck Muth) – OK, before getting to my list of the Top 10 Nevada conservatives for 2009, our friend Dave Berns, former host of KNPR’s “State of Nevada” radio program, raised the point about what exactly I consider to be the definition of a conservative.

Good point. And to answer that question, I give you former Reagan press secretary Lyn Nofziger who shared his definition of the term several years ago before he passed away:

“Allowing for differences I would define a conservative, first as one who believes in the Constitution as it is written. That takes care of free speech, freedom of religion, the right to petition the government, the right to keep and bear arms and, in the words of William O. Douglas in one of his saner moments, ‘the right to be let alone.’

“Second, a conservative believes in small, limited government at every level. Along with this he believes strongly in individual responsibility. That is, a person or a family should take care of itself and turn for help to government only when all other means have been exhausted. It also means that society, before government, has a duty to take care of its own. Government should be a resource of last resort.

“Third, a conservative believes taxes should be levied for the purpose of financing the limited responsibilities of government such as providing for the common defense, catching and incarcerating criminals, minting money and filling potholes. Taxes should not be levied for the purpose of redistributing wealth.

“That’s about it.

“I know there are those who say a conservative should be pro-life, which I am, but I’m not sure a person has to be that to qualify as a conservative. Nor am I sure that a person must be opposed to pornography, which I am. In both cases there are questions of individual rights and responsibilities which are arguable.

“One other thing I think a conservative believes is that the parents, not government, are and should be responsible for the upbringing and behavior of their children.”

And with that, here’s my 2009 list of Nevada’s Top 10 conservatives:

#10 – Sen. Harry Reid

Yeah, yeah….I know. Harry Reid is no conservative under ANY definition. However….no one has done more to unite the warring factions of the conservative movement in Nevada than Harry Reid. No one.

#9 – Wayne Allyn Root

I know, W.A.R. isn’t technically a conservative. He’s a libertarian and a Libertarian. Which makes him a Goldwater-type conservative. Indeed, Root wrote a limited-government book this year aptly titled, “Conscience of a Libertarian.” And as Ronald Reagan once said, “the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism.”

Anyway, this articulate and principled Las Vegan was the Libertarian Party’s vice presidential nominee in 2008, now has his own radio show, is a regular featured guest on numerous television talking heads shows, pens regular conservative/libertarian columns, is a home-schooling dad and might well be a U.S. Senate candidate in Nevada next year or possibly the next National Chairman of the Libertarian Party.

#8 – Geoffrey Lawrence

For years now, Nevada conservatives have sung the “no new taxes” fight song without ever definitively answering the question, “Well, then what would you cut?” In 2009, Lawrence – a fiscal analyst at the Nevada Policy Research Institute – provided an answer via a comprehensive alternate state budget, the “Freedom Budget,” which came in less than even Gov. Jim Gibbons’ proposed budget.

One may not agree with each and every recommendation in Lawrence’s Freedom Budget, but no one can say any longer that it’s “impossible” to balance Nevada’s budget and fund essential services without raising taxes. It is and was possible – and Lawrence showed legislators the way.

If only they had read the Freedom Budget before passing a billion dollars worth of higher taxes.

#7 – Bruce James

Mirroring Ronald Reagan’s “Grace Commission,” Gov. Jim Gibbons established by executive order the Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission to examine Nevada’s budget and find ways to make it more efficient and less expensive.

James was tapped to head the commission, raised private funds to pay for its research, and led a bipartisan committee which came up with numerous ways to give Nevada taxpayers more bang for their buck. A number of SAGE’s recommendations were adopted by this year’s Legislature, and others will surely make their way into the governor’s 2011 budget.

So solid were SAGE’s recommendations that some legislators and candidates on both sides of the aisle are now proposing that the commission not only be extended for another two years, but actually be funded by the Legislature. Considering how much money James and the SAGE Commission have already saved taxpayers, it’s an expense well worth the price of admission.

#6 – Todd “Taxpayer” Bailey

Prior to the start of the 2009 legislative session, Bailey was a largely unknown citizen activist who knew how to use podcasts and emails for effective grassroots lobbying. His staunch anti-tax missives to legislators during the session, however, hit more than a few raw nerves – leading one unidentified legislator towards the end of the session to threaten Bailey with a lawsuit if he didn’t cease and desist.

Ah, that free speech thing is overrated anyway, right?

Bailey is also a champion of school reform and accountability, making himself a royal pain in the keister to the Washoe County school district. He’s presently a Republican candidate for state Senate District 4, vying to replace term-limited Sen. Randolph Townsend who voted for a billion dollars worth of higher taxes in the ’09 session.

#5 – Assemblyman Ed Goedhart

The high-tech dairy farmer from Amargosa Valley received the top score in Citizen Outreach’s conservative “2009 Ratings of the Legislature,” is chairman of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge Caucus, and new chairman of the conservative Nevada Republican Study Committee.

Goedhart also championed three of the most significant conservative bills in the ’09 session – one on school choice, one on tax restraint and another on spending caps. As a member of a super-minority, the bills went nowhere in the Legislature, but are potent campaign issues for the 2010 elections.

Goedhart also sounded a warning bell early in the ’09 session, urging his colleagues not to use the federal stimulus money to fund ongoing services and programs since that money was not likely to be around for the next biennium, creating an even bigger budget hole next session than the one this past session. Of course, his colleagues ignored Goedhart’s prophetic warning and the state reportedly now faces somewhere in the neighborhood of a two-and-a-half billion budget hole.

#4 – Rep. Dean Heller

Who knew? During all his years as Secretary of State, Heller was generally perceived as a populist elected official, not a movement conservative. But after being elected to Congress in 2006, Heller’s “inner Reagan” emerged and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more consistently conservative and principled voting record in all of Washington, DC.

In addition, Heller landed a seat on the all-important House Ways and Means Committee and has led the conservative fight in Congress against a number of bad Democrat bills, including TARP and Harry Reid’s “Screw Nevada II” health care reform proposal.

The longer Heller stays in the House, the further up the leadership food chain he’s likely to climb, but should Sen. John Ensign be forced to resign down the road over his trouser malfunction scandal, Heller is the odds-on favorite to be tapped to replace him.

#3 – Talk Radio Hosts (tie)

Alan Stock (KXNT – Las Vegas), Heidi Harris (KDWN – Las Vegas), Bill Manders (KKOH – Reno) and Casey Hendrickson & Heather Kydd (KXNT – Las Vegas) serve as the daily HQ home office for conservative news and opinion on national, state and local issues.

Unless you’ve ever hosted your own radio talk show, you have no idea how much work goes into research and show prep in order to produce both an informative and entertaining conservative program for 2-3 hours each and every weekday – day in and day out. These folks may make it look easy, but trust me, the job requires intelligence, hard work and a lot of energy.

Kids, don’t try this at home.

#2 – Gov. Jim Gibbons

Set aside the personal problems and the revolving door staff changes for the first two and a half years of his administration – which, I know, is kinda like saying, “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how’d you like the play?” – but you still have to admit that no elected official has been a stronger fiscal hawk when it comes to taxes and spending in Nevada.

And no one has been on message more consistently than Jim Gibbons: Government must live within its means and tighten its belt just like Nevada’s families during this recession; no new taxes.

Although the governor’s tax stand has been ridiculed by many and criticized by most, the plain simple reality is that if you don’t take higher taxes off the table in budget talks, higher taxes will ALWAYS be the default result rather than spending cuts.

It’s only because of Jim Gibbons’ single-minded intransigence on the tax issue – save one fall from grace over that room tax earlier this year – legislators were forced to accept spending cuts they NEVER would have even remotely considered otherwise.

If Gov. Gibbons, as now seems likely, fails to win a second term, it won’t be because of his fiscal conservatism and his no new taxes pledge. In fact, those two positions are about the only reason the governor still has a shot, albeit a longshot, at winning the Republican nomination again in June.

Say whatever else you will about Jim Gibbons, but he’s been a fiscal conservative mensch during an economic collapse which would have buckled most other politicians.

#1 – Janine Hansen

It’s hard to know where to start in outlining everything that Janine has done for the conservative movement over almost four decades of political activism, but here’s why Janine gets my nod for the 2009 Conservative of the Year:

Nobody, and I mean nobody, did a better job covering and lobbying the Legislature this year for conservatives. Nobody. And she did it as a citizen volunteer, not a high-priced lobbyist.

If you were a conservative interested in not only knowing what the Legislature was up to on an almost-daily basis, all you had to do was subscribe to Janine’s free email updates. Not only did she explain what bills were coming forward, why they were good or bad, and who to call or email to urge “yes” or “no” votes, but Janine explained the complexities of the legislative process to us in a way that the average citizen and taxpayer could understand.

Oh, and did I mention that she did this by driving to and from Carson City each week from ELKO?

For those who might not know Janine and her full story, here’s a Reader’s Digest version of just a few highlights: She’s been a major pro-life leader since the Roe v. Wade decision, a citizen lobbyist since 1971, president of the Nevada Eagle Forum since 1974, executive director of the Independent American Party, legislative candidate, ballot initiative champion, radio talk show host, and leader of the anti-ERA movement.

In her “spare” time, Janine is a wife, mother of four and grandmother of eight (with number nine on the way).

Indeed, Conservative of the Year hardly seems sufficient; a Lifetime Achievement Award would be more appropriate. Nevertheless, the fact is Nevada conservatives were darned lucky to have this principled citizen activist fighting in their corner again this year – and the very least we could do is say……thank you, Janine!

I recently read and article in the Hartford Courant about a boy who used false documents to play Pop Warner Football. I could not help but think of the ramifications that this should have on the president. When in Indonesia Barack Obama's name was changed to Barry Sotero. He went to school there as a citizen of Indonesia. Obama has provided false documents to state that he was born in Hawaii. He may have actually been born in Hawaii.
Hezekiah Harris provide false documents to play football. He claimed to be Tyrone Davis. The long and short of it is that even though Hezekiah would have been eligible to play he has been disqualified. Not only has he been disqualified his whole team has been disqualified.
Why is it more important to present valid documentation to play youth football than to be president?
Hezekiah was eligible but he used false documents. Maybe Obama is eligible but he has not provided the correct documents. He is still legally Barry Sotero as far as any legal documents have yet to claim. He should be disqualified if he cannot provide the proper documents. If the same justice was served as it was in the youth football case not only would Obama be disqualified but his whole team would be too. I do not know if that team would just be his cabinet or the entire Democrat Party, maybe the Republican Party also since the often seem to be all on the same team.
It is sad that who is eligible to play youth football is more important than who is eligible to be president.

I have heard a lot about naming the so called health care bill after Kennedy. I have also heard that his death may cause some to now vote for it that were against it. This is not the proper tribute. What should be done is to honor Ted Kennedy for a courageous vote he cast, only 22 other Senators voted with him on this one. His buddy Chris Dodd and his fellow MA Senator John Kerry did not vote with him on this one either. The action to take to honor Ted Kennedy is to get out of Iraq as soon as possible. There could be a resolution accompanying this action call the Ted Kennedy National Security Act.

Dear Connecticut Campaign for Liberty Members,

State sovereignty is one of the most important issues in front of us today - it is nearly impossible to get anything done at the federal level, but our state legislators still listen. We want to empower them to make the right decision, by ensuring they understand the proper, Constitutional role of the federal government.

Please join your fellow CT C4L members on Saturday April 11th, at 2pm, as we show a video presentation by Dr. Edwin Vieira titled "The Purse and the Sword". Dr. Vieira has a well thought out plan to inject sound money and constitutional "homeland security" at the state level - it is 10th amendment legislation, but with teeth! Joining us will be Committees of Safety founder, Walter Reddy. (P.S. Walter is a Campaign for Liberty precinct leader here in Connecticut!).

I believe this will be a major focus for our group in Connecticut - this event is intended to introduce everyone to the plan and discuss what we can do to get this legislation passed! I hope that we will be able to work with the Committees of Safety to ensure that Connecticut is the first state to pass REAL legislation that will peacefully establish state sovereignty here - putting chains on the feds!

Good News:

Today the GAE (Government And Elections) committee released HR 6436 in written form. I gave the bill to Atty. and CT Green Party co-chair Steve Fornier to look at earlier today. He says that the bill would reduce our state-wide office and congressional petitioning requirements to 1000 valid signatures (VS 7500 SIGNATURES OR 1% OF THE VOTES IN LAST ELECTION UNDER THE PRESENT LAW).

In the past we have been required to collect 7500 valid signatures to get on the ballot for president or for other state-wide office and we have had to collect over 3000 valid signatures for congress. The bill also requires the Sec. of the State to do all the checking of the signatures and takes the responsibility away from the town clerks.

How to Stimulate the Economy

A couple of ideas about how to stimulate the economy. These are not new. The have in fact been proposed by Democrats.
First in 2004 when John Kerry was running for president one of his talking points was that he would eliminate the tax breaks for companies that move out of the country. My only criticism of him at the time was that why didn't he propose it when the Democrats had control of both houses and Clinton was president. Now Obama is president and the Democrats have larger majorities in both houses. This is an idea that really would stimulate the economy.
Now in 2008 Obama campaigned on changing NAFTA. Well lets do it. This is another that would actually stimulate the economy if done right.
I am sure there are more are I really haven't thought that hard, but why haven't these ideas been brought up to stimulate the economy? Don't the Democrats really want to stimulate the economy?

The Second American Revolution

As I study more and more the battle for American independence and thus freedom and liberty I cannot consider lightly the role that the hand of God played. Outnumbered, out trained, out financed, etc. When I consider that a mere shift in the direction of the wind early could have meant the annihilation of the the newly proclaimed United States of America less than 2 months after that proclamation. I cannot dismiss it merely as coincidence or fate as some historians do, but I must conclude that it was the hand of God.
This give me hope that though we are now subject to a government that in many ways is more tyrannical than that which we declared ourselves independent of in 1776. (Read the list of grievances against King George listed in the Declaration of Independence.) I believe freedom and liberty can once again be ours.
There are those who seek so called liberty and freedom so that they may use it for their own lascivious ends. I now realize that we will not see the hand of God as needed to accomplish a "second American revolution" if we align ourselves with those who will not honor God in their pursuit of liberty. They may follow but we must lead. This battle must first be waged from our churches. Those that claim the liberty which is in Christ must not fear the tyranny that our government threatens for expressing the ideals of freedom and liberty in an organized church setting. We for decades bashed the Soviet Union fro having registered churches. We have them here. We register for tax exempt status, then we allow the government to put restrictions on what we can and cannot say from the pulpit. Yes, now the restrictions are "political" confined mostly to what you can or cannot say about a candidate. But what is next?...Is it not even a stretch to believe they will soon try to tell us what we can say about so called political issues...abortion, homosexuality, etc. Then what?...Restrictions on what you can say about the Gospel. "I'm sorry you can't say that it is not inclusive enough" or "it's discriminatory."
We are outnumbered, we are out financed, we are out trained. But with the hand of God we can win this revolution. My fear is not that we can't win but that we won't fight. I do not think that with today's churches the first revolution would have been fought and that is my fear for the second revolution.
